No Netroots Radio
I’ve severed all ties to Netroots Radio, this is a big change from once being one of the owners of said station. There are many reasons for that but the biggest of all is the weekly religous bashing on their Campfire Talk show that’s on Tuesdays. One of the hosts on that show thinks he needs to bash Catholics on a weekly basis…often going on for hours. It started with just an insult tossed out and when I complained that this was unnecessary, well he just racketed it up. So week after week this went on despite my efforts to stop it. He also branched out into insulting women. Yeah, it went way too far.
The facts are 50% of Catholics vote Dem, the other half are single issue voters that can be swayed and have in past elections. Some names come to mind here…Kennedy, Kerry, Patrick Murphy, Al Smith etc. Why are they insisting on insulting key core groups of Dem allies? This is the #1 reason why I don’t stream Netroots anymore and left as an owner. I don’t want to be seen as approving of this material nor be open to the liability of it. Is it a progressive political station or a religious one? A comedy excuse was tossed out but it isn’t at all funny and if it were directed against Jews or Muslims instead of Catholics I believe it would have been stopped.
I can’t be involved in something like this and won’t be. Since it is so important to them to keep this offensive content, my podcasts will no longer be played on that station. You might occasionally still hear my voice on it if any of the old shorts & commercials I made for it are still used but that’s it. I’ll continue to put out The Julianna Michigan Show available on Itunes and Podbean but will be seeking a more professional home for it or starting a new station with some people that aren’t interested in insulting key groups like women and Catholics. The most important thing we have is our reputation and I’m not willing to let a loose cannon who needs therapy rather than a radio show sully mine. Standing with the Catholics and my fellow women against bigotry and hatred.
